Marine Cruise & 4x4 Sandwich Harbour

Join one of our catamarans or ski-boats and experience the splendid riches our Atlantic Ocean has to offer — including the Marine Big 5: seals, dolphins, seasonal whales, turtles, sunfish, and so much more.

This adventurous and educational cruise, guided by our friendly staff, departs every morning from the Walvis Bay Waterfront and sails along the beautiful lagoon area. Along the way, we pass the oyster farms, shipwreck, Pelican Point, the seal colony, and the lighthouse. It’s a perfect outing for all ages.

On board, complimentary snack platters, fresh oysters, sparkling wine, coffee and tea, bottled water, and assorted drinks are provided.

The second part of the tour starts at the Walvis Bay Waterfront immediately after returning from the cruise. The first stop is along the lagoon, where large flocks of flamingos can be viewed.

A short drive further takes us past the salt pans of the Salt Works, where guests can see the alluring pink water in the pans (weather permitting). From here, we continue toward the coast on a salted gravel road between the salt pans and the Walvis Bay Lagoon, spotting more flamingos and other birds depending on the season.

We continue south along the coast toward the entrance of Namib-Naukluft Park and enter the park at its northern boundary, where it meets the Atlantic Ocean.

Tides permitting, we enjoy a drive along the beach where seals or jackals are sometimes seen close to the shoreline. This scenic stretch leads us to the point where the sand meets the sea. If the tide is low, we continue into Sandwich Harbour. If the tide is high, we enter the dunes instead and drive to a high viewpoint from which Sandwich Harbour can be seen from above along the ocean.

An exciting dune drive follows, surrounded by the magnificent splendour of the Namib Desert. Animals cannot be guaranteed, but herds of oryx or springbok are sometimes spotted. More rarely — but still possible — we may see an ostrich on or near the dunes.

During the tour, the guide will stop for a picnic, giving guests time to walk around, explore, or simply enjoy snacks and drinks.

After a wonderful afternoon, we begin our journey back to Walvis Bay and drop guests off at their accommodation for a well-deserved shower and meal — and lots of unforgettable memories of the dunes.
