SUNSET TOUR

Sandwich Harbour is situated within the well-known Namib-Naukluft Park and, although many have heard about it, very few have ever had the opportunity to visit.

The tour starts at the Walvis Bay Tourism Centre or any pre-arranged pick-up point in Walvis Bay. The first stop is along the lagoon, where large flocks of flamingos can be viewed.

A short drive further takes us past the salt pans of the Salt Works, where guests can admire the striking pink water in the pans (weather permitting).

From here, we drive toward the coast on a salted gravel road between the salt pans and the Walvis Bay Lagoon, seeing more flamingos and other bird species depending on the season.

We enter the Namib-Naukluft Park at the northern border, where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. Tides permitting, we continue with a scenic drive along the beach, where seals or jackals are occasionally spotted close to the shore. This stretch brings us to the point where the sand meets the sea.

We then enter the dunes and ascend to a high lookout point from where Sandwich Harbour can be seen below, stretching along the ocean.

During the tour, the guide will stop for a picnic, allowing guests time to walk around and enjoy the surroundings while waiting for the sun to set.

Shortly after sunset, we begin our journey back to Walvis Bay and drop guests off at their accommodation — ready for a well-deserved shower, meal, and plenty of memories of the dunes.
